Like every spring we take advantage of the May bridges to make an excursion to a nearby country, this year we are opting for the south of Germany and the region of Bavaria.
Tuesday May 27 at the end of the afternoon we leave Lyon to join family in Alsace. We meet on the Kembs Loeche area (particularly pleasant place, where we can admire the passage of the locks by the barges). We arrive in the evening, the weather is mixed but we park in grassy places and think of coming back one day to enjoy this place for a longer time.
On Wednesday May 28th we leave Alsace to join the Bavarian castles region, we expect to arrive at the beginning of the afternoon to visit the castles but it is 4:00 p.m. and decide to join the Fussen area (13 € per night , area close to a campsite) we visit the charming town of Fussen.

The next day, Thursday, we will visit the Neuschwantein castle, parking is compulsory and costs 7.5 € (it is strictly forbidden to spend the night there) for the visit of the castle there is no visit in French, we are entitled to to an audio guide. We are provided with a ticket with the time of the visit because they are all carried out with a guide, allow a duration of about 30 minutes.
Finally, we also visit the castle from the outside and join a footbridge that allows you to admire and photograph this monument which is especially admirable for its exterior architecture and its location in the heart of the mountain.
We can also admire the Hohenschangau castle which stands out for its yellow color.
In the afternoon we visit the station of Garmish Partenkirchen but on this Thursday of the ascent the shops are closed.
For the night we reach Munich, like most of the time in Germany we take the motorway and the rain accompanies us along the way.
For parking in Munich we opt for the Bayern Munich stadium area of the Allianz Arena (very beautiful stadium especially at night with remarkable lighting) parking costs € 15 for 24 hours, only thing to note it is possible to park on days when there is no match, access to central Munich requires a 20-minute walk to the metro and then another 20 minutes by metro.
On Friday May 30 we visit Munich, Marienplatz square, and wait 11:00 am for the chime to ring and the characters to come to life. The visit continues with the food market, the charcuterie stalls, the Hofbrauhaus brewery and its impressive capacity but everything is complete, so we have lunch at the Weisses brewery which from outside gives the impression of a modest establishment but the interior is huge with many floors, the meal is correct and we do not regret our choice.
In the afternoon we visit the English garden but without interest, it is certainly a beautiful green space but not equivalent to the Parc de la tête d'or in Lyon !!!
We leave Munich to join Regensburg (Regensburg) which is about a hundred kilometers away, we arrive at the Am Winterhafen parking lot crowded with people and learn that there is a Catholic congress, we still manage to find a place. We will spend the night in this car park without any worries and in addition very close to the city center.

On Saturday May 31st we start the day with the city tour of Regensburg (City full of charm and completely redone, always so many people because of the congress) at the end of the morning we visit the memorial of Walhalla this monument resembles the acropolis of 'Ahénes, its location is remarkable and we dominate the whole valley, luck is with us because the sun shines all day, we have lunch in the car park (2 €) before continuing our tour towards Bamberg.

On Sunday June 1, we take the vehicle to reach the center of Bamberg (The area is quiet and close to a park but a little far from the city center) we park easily because of the Sunday rest, we have some orientation concerns to find the historic center, it is a city not to be missed.

After visiting large cities we opt for the small town of Rhotenburg ob der Tauber, certainly very touristy but worth the detour.
Unfortunately this long weekend is drawing to a close and we have to get closer to France. We are looking for a free place to spend the night and find the following area Bahnhofweg 79856 HINTERZARTEN (Station parking lot, there are hardly any trains at night and the place is very quiet) initially we thought we would sleep by the lake de Titisee but the surroundings are inaccessible and the areas are chargeable.

We had a 6 night stay, we had 3 nights in the service area.
The areas are very numerous at an average price of 10 to 15 €.
Countries where motorhome operators are numerous, parking and reception are no problem.
