This year we have decided to spend the New Year's Eve weekend in London, a destination that we have been considering for a few years, our schedule had not allowed us to achieve it until then.
We made up our minds relatively late and had some difficulty finding a campsite, but no problem finding a ferry.
We opted for the company My Ferry Link instead of the tunnel because of the lower price.
For the campsite we chose the Lee Valley Campsite at Seewardstone road Chingford.
To reach the bus taking us to the city center it takes about twenty minutes on foot because in this season the campsite is not served by the bus, then count 1/2 hour by bus and metro to reach the center.
First day visit of the unmissable places of London, with Buckingham, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, with a bright sun on this December 28th.
The 2nd day we spend a large part of the day at the extraordinary and wacky Candem market where we will eat various specialties from the world. Place not to be missed during a visit to London. The luck is still with us because the sun is always present.
On the 3rd day we continue our visit with the Covent Garden market, London Bridge, tower bridge and a passage through the city. At the end of the afternoon in England the tasting in a pub of a tea and a Guinness is obligatory. The rain will have disturbed us in the morning with the cancellation of the changing of the guard.
On the last day and in this December 31st, we will stroll through central London doing some shopping.
From 7:00 p.m. many people rush to wait for the New Year's fireworks display. We reach the banks of the Thames and start by drinking a few cocktails in a pub
Around 9:00 p.m. we go to the docks to wait for 12:00 a.m. and the fireworks display (the wait will spoil this wonderful spectacle). Fortunately, despite the crowds, we manage to take the metro fairly quickly and then find a bus to reach the campsite.
We had a 5 night stay, we spent 4 nights camping at the rate of 23 € for the motorhome and 2 people.
The first night at the Calais ferry terminal.
We paid 114 € for the return ferry crossing.
I had some concerns about driving on the left, but no worries as the campsite is very close to the highway.
London is a beautiful city where you have to spend more time to know it, we promised to return there to discover it in the spring.
