TURKEY 2008
In 2008 we decided to discover a new country and our choice fell on this country at the gateway to Asia.
We therefore know how to choose the road route by crossing Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and finally arriving in Turkey.
The first night will be very exotic, we have found a site in a housing estate, we will be awakened the next morning by the minaret. This first day will be the day of adaptation to this new culture.
Direction Istanbul, we find a parking lot (oto park) in the city center a few hundred meters from the Blue Mosque, it will wake us up during calls to prayer.

Here are some photos of this superb city full of architectural and cultural riches (We are starting to take our marks). .

We leave Istanbul for the Black Sea, we spend the night in a parking lot in Akcakoca.
(The towns are surprisingly lively at night).
After the Black Sea we head for Cappadocia, the first night we spend it in a campsite in Goreme.
The next day we go to the market of Avanos, a superb town with a market in Mediterranean colors, we begin to really appreciate the warm welcome of the Turks.
The following night we spend it in a parking lot in Goreme (We will be 2 motorhomes and this for the first time because we see very few.
Here are some pictures of Cappadocia an exceptional landscape sculpted by nature and adapted by man, we will also be surprised by the quantity of apricots that the Turks make dried.
After Cappadocia we reach the sea to cool off, the coast is much less peaceful than the interior of the country and as in many countries the seaside is sometimes difficult to access, we find several bivouacs including one particularly quiet and perfectly adapted for motorhome (Cirali) we share the aperitif with a Turkish motorhome, despite the communication difficulties related to the language we confirm that Turkey is a very welcoming country. We really enjoyed the Turkish cuisine and its restaurants.

We continue with the visit of the famous site of Pamukkale, we leave the town of Pammukale for the night because people want to send us to a campsite, we will sleep in a neighboring village that is much less touristy.
We reach Europe via the Dardanelles Strait.
On the other hand, bad surprise we spent 5 hours queuing to cross the Turkey Bulgaria border due to the crowds. But we also spend about 5 hours crossing the various borders outside the EEC because when the customs officers notice that we are coming back from Turkey they search the motorhome, this because of the poor image of this country and drug trafficking.
We had a 23 night stay, we spent only 1 night camping.
The wild bivouac poses no worries, no feelings of insecurity, on the other hand the country can be confusing on the first day.
A country to discover sublime landscapes (Cappadocia, Pamukkale ...) an extraordinary capital which allows us to discover the charms of the East. A pleasant and very good cuisine, a wonderful welcome.
Quiet seaside are more difficult to find because on the coast there are several seaside resorts.
We have traveled 8,020 km.
